In 100 Nights of Hero, the key creative challenge stemmed from the source material: while the original graphic novel is set in a definitive medieval world, our film required a unique visual identity. My central task was to build a world that honored the folkloric roots while visualizing the film's core themes—isolation, temptation, and the liberating power of storytelling.

It was Knebworth House, with its inherent mix of Tudor, Victorian Gothic, and Edwardian styles, that provided the perfect eclectic foundation our film needed. This presented a thrilling challenge: the line between fantasy and a strict period piece was very fine. However, Knebworth's eccentricity gave me the push to explore freely, an exploration fully supported by our director, Julia Jackman, who trusted my vision to bring this assembly of periods to life. I drew inspiration from Art Nouveau's fluidity and Art Deco's sharpness, weaving the location's 300-year history into a romantic-satirical thread. This philosophy extended to anachronistic props and a strategic colour palette designed to consciously differentiate the regimented 'real world' from the dangerously seductive 'story world'.
